Coaching

Coaching is a partnership – a space to think clearly, define what matters, and work towards meaningful goals with someone alongside you. Whether you’re navigating a career change, growing as a leader, or trying to reconnect with your sense of purpose, I create room for honest conversation. Much of my coaching is free or pro bono while I build hours toward PCC accreditation with the ICF. There’s no sales pitch, just a chance to think clearly and move forward with intention.

“But what type of coaching?!”

Is by far the question I get asked the most, and is the most difficult to answer. I get a lot from leadership based coaching and helping people find purpose at work and home, but some examples of real coaching examples include:

  • Helping navigate difficult conversations
  • Clarifying goals for next career steps
  • Uncovering values to discover how they’re driving unwanted behaviours
  • What does happiness mean to me?
  • Helping understand effects of perfectionism / imposter syndrome

But the question I like to help people answer the most is,

I do this through a values-beliefs-purpose model to help people build clarity around who they are and how they want to use their values for a greater good.

“What’s with Simian Coaching?!”

While our brains haven’t evolved much over the past 30,000 years, the world around us has changed dramatically. Many of the beliefs and behaviours that once helped us survive and thrive in ancient times – the need for security, attention, control – may no longer serve us well in the complexity of modern life. Much of coaching is about seeing whether these beliefs are serving us right now and whether we can put in place more useful strategies to transforming into the person we want to be.

“The Chimp Paradox” is one of my favourite books, and it uses the model of the mind as a pet to tame with our logical, rational brains. I’d highly recommend it.

Mentoring

I offer tech-focused mentoring, mainly through platforms like ADPList and Reed Women in Tech. It’s a way to give back and support people navigating leadership, delivery challenges, or early career questions. If you’re part of an organisation and think mentoring might help you or someone in your team, I’m always open to chatting about how I can support through my day-to-day work in tech.
